Christ-follower, entomologist/ecologist/environmental scientist.

I love ecology and entomology, and ants are my passion. I am currently pursuing a M.S. Entomology, working in a lab studying the Solenopsis invicta social gene which, among other things, determines whether a colony is monogynous or polygynous. I really enjoy social hymenoptera, especially when it comes to myrmecology and ant taxonomy.

Other groups I really enjoy are mantises, moths, and millipedes - my favorite species to document is Narceus americanus. As part of my undergrad research, I visited and collected from many of the gorgeous state parks SC has to offer in an effort to better understand the population expansion of N. americanus throughout the piedmont and costal plain since the end of the Pleistocene.

Wetland ecology holds a special place in my heart, as I have years of practical experience in wetland delineation.

As a hobby, I 've also kept many species, such as Anadenobolus monilicornis, Chicobolus spinigerus, Narceus americanus, Narceus gordanus, Therea petiveriana, Lucihormetica subcincta, Stagmomantis carolina, Hyalophora cecropia, Antheraea polyphemus, Eacles imperialis, Solenopsis invicta, Pogonomyrmex badius, Camponotus castaneus, Camponotus chromaiodes, Camponotus pennsylvanicus, and Latrodectus mactans.

I also dabble in apiculture, with the goal of eventually becoming a certified master beekeeper.
