EXACT LOCATION OBSCURED
found dead owl on Columbia St.
We live beside an urban forest. This owl had come down a stove pipe into our house and attracted our attention by making noises inside the stove. When we opened the stove door the owl sat inside and looked at us for a while. After it came out, it ignored our invitations to fly out opened doors and instead sat on the floor or perched. This gave it a chance to get rid of some of the ash from its feet and feathers. It eventually flew out and we have not seen it since.
We have shown these photos to Chris Dale, a local birding expert, and he suggested the species, which is not recorded for our area.
