Growing between western red cedar and big leaf maple. About 15 feet from a slow moving creek. Growing out of the soil and on decomposing wood
This fungal species was found on October 12th in the conifer forest of Big Mosquito Lake. The cap was very thick with a thick and tough stipe. The cap was smooth with pores underneath that looked sponge-like, while the stipe looked a but net-like.
Collection #: M-12. It was growing on a stick on the ground. Was found under conifers overhead. Shallon and sword ferns were in the shrubs.
Substrate: growing in dirt near Douglas fir tree, fairly dry soil, mostly buried under soil and sticks.
Plant associations: Douglas fir
Hairy exterior with fluted inner walls and pale grey peridioles. Found growing in aged wood chips with open canopy and southeastern exposure.
