Module 3 Field Assignment - Mount Diablo

For my last field assignment, I went to Mount Diablo. It was the busiest hike that I've done this semester and I got to see many cool adventurous people doing things like biking down long hills and paragliding. The trail that we did was considered one of the easier trails and they had numbered observation points of rocks and plants and flowers, with an amazing view. Didn't see any birds or anything like that just a lot of trees, rocks, and flowers. Me and my dad are more the "live on the edge" type so we got to take some cool pictures on high rocks and cliffs whilst simultaneously giving my mom a mini heart attack out of stress and fear. Overall it was a beautiful view and an easy hike, my only con was that it was so cold, but for every con theres a pro to outweigh that and so even though it was cold, I got to see some snow!

My Second Hike - Jepson Prarie Preserve

For my second hike I went to Solano County to the Jepson Prairie Preserve. Due to the rain the past few days the area was very muddy but the flowers were in full bloom. It was difficult to see any signs of life in the waters but this was probably due to the rain causing the water to appear more murky and muddy. The birds were very lively and there were many water mosquitoes covering the surface of the vernal pools. The whole field had not been covered in wildflowers but the patches where there were, they were beautiful and vibrant with a few flying insects gravitating towards them. The great egrets that we saw flew very beautifully.
