Naomi (she/her). UCLA computational biology student who likes going outdoors. Mainly into herps and marine stuff, but I love learning about all the life I see.

These are some of my favorite observations of mine. Also if you feel like being super duper cool, I would love if you were able to ID one of my non-research grade reptiles + amphibians <3

I've been really enjoying getting into the ID side of iNat, where I've found myself largely identifying snakes and lizards in the western US. My strongest areas are probably gartersnakes of the western US + Canada and native vs. invasive whiptails of California. For the latter, I made this Guide to California Whiptail ID, which I hope people will find helpful. Please feel free to ping me if you want help with an ID, you want me to clarify/fix an ID that I've made, or you have anything else you think I may be able to help with. Since I ID a lot, I'm beginning to occasionally unfollow observations once the ID has settled (~4 unanimous IDs, sometimes less if it's a common species) to keep notifications a bit more manageable, so please @ me if you want to reach me.

If somehow I ever take a picture you like enough that you want to use it, that would make me really happy! Please check its copyright status first though (I have like one or two photos up here where I've reserved the rights in case I ever want to make a website for photography I'm particularly proud of). Providing it's the CC BY-NC, go ahead and use it, credit me, and let me know― I'd love to check out the article, paper, etc. that it becomes a part of. If it's all rights reserved, feel free to reach out to me about it to discuss what it would be used for, I might still allow it.

I'm a bit socially anxious meeting people, but I would like to make more friends who like herpetology, so feel free to reach out if you might be interested in going and finding cool reptiles together.

These are some useful and interesting links relating to iNat and herp ID if you want to check those out.

UCLAの大学生で全生物観察が好きです。爬虫類と両生類がメインです。いつか野生のオオサンショウウオを見たいです。非ネイティブなので、もし変な日本語を言ってしまうならすみません。よろしくお願いします。
