We released a new computer vision model yesterday. It has 82,023 taxa up from 80,962. This new model (v2.9) was trained on data exported on October 15th.
Here's a graph of the models release schedule since early 2022 (segments extend from data export date to model release date) and how the number of species included in each model has increased over time.
Here is a sample of new species added to v2.9:

61 obs (one of which is mine)
True blue daisies!
Nice that the update is there!
Chromista and protozoan links are broken
fixed thanks
Yay, Oxyopes aglossus is now included! :)
Is there a way to search the full list 82,023 to see which taxa are included?
I asked to have the updates in a 'monthly' project.
Or labelled with the 'date included' on the taxon page (that would have been useful)
Both. Not possible. So I leave a comment on my own obs.
I think it would be interesting to have that list so that we can know which taxa can still use work on IDing in order to get pushed to the next round of included taxa.
Asked for that too. But we have to do it manually.
Taxon page still says Pending - need about 60 obs - then I leave a comment on the obs I come across while IDing
'Only ... obs on iNat - need 60 for CV update'
Hi there, how many fungi species are currently in the model? Thanks
@dianastuder Need 60 obs research grade?
The rule is 100 pictures, but we can't count that - so - about 60 obs.
(Sorry can't find it again - but I know iNat said they choose pictures across different photographers and cameras. So we can't just upload 100 pictures of our favourite missing species)
Is it possible to check if a taxon is included in the model?
For example, today I was trying to ID Astragulus insularis subspecies harwoodii from sprouts. It would've been helpful to know if it was possible for the model to recognize that, which is unlikely because it's a very rare plant. Plantago ovata was suggested, which seemed plausible, but maybe this was misleading, if Astragulus insularis subspecies harwoodii is just not included in the model.
Astragulus insularis subspecies harwoodii
species is included with
(70 harwoodii and 1 insularis)
CV only goes down to species ?
To check if included in CV - go to the relevant taxon page, click About - find the Pending or Included badge lower right sidebar.
