Chiliarchum arnoldi arnoldi & C. a. sabianus (Koch, 1952)

A striking Chiliarchum species in which, like C. bertolonii and C. freyi, the two basal impressions of the pronotum are located in the posterior angles and are covered by the lateral stripe of white tomentum.
Elytra with white lateral tomentum stripe and only very few yellow hair on the apical slope.
C. arnoldi is easily told by the short, wide and convex shape, the absence of the elytral ribs and the fine and sparse sculpture of the upper surface.

The subspecies sabianus is recorded from the Save River in Mozambique and has a different sculpture on the elytral suface:
"Die Flügeldecken sind schmäler, auf jeder Flügeldecke diskal durch feine Längsfurchen in drei Teile geteilt, von denen jede auf der Mittellinie eine feine, lineare, kielartige, gerade Längserhebung trägt; die Skulptur besteht aus dichter gestellten, abgeflachten, raspeligen Körnchen anstatt Punkten, welche in den feinen Längsfurchen herdartig verdicktet sind; die Scheibe des apikalen Abfalles ist sehr dicht und sehr fein gekörnt."
