Monolepta juliusweisei Wagner 2007

This species is very similar to M. cruciata, but has usually more slender elytra and longer basal antennomeres.
Head yellow to yellowish red. Distal 5-7 antennomeres usually brownish or black, with a paler base. Antennomeres short and broad.
Prothorax yellow, yellowish red or red.
Elytra slender. Elytral colouration variable: (1) with clear cross-like pattern. (2) usually cross pattern reduced; with black humeral spot, subapical tip and interrupted transverse black median band, and all margins and the suture red. (3) specimens with intermediate colouration between the both forms.
Scutellum red or black. Meso- and metathorax, usually yellowish red to brownish red,
Legs usually yellowish red.
Abdomen usually yellowish red.

An abundant species in South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe, most records from Highveld or Drakensberg mountains.
